Check the relevant Thai mission, use official Turkish document services and prepare the evidence for the route you choose. ## Landing, Body ## Check the current entry rules The current Thai ordinary-passport chart lists Turkey, shown as Türkiye, in the 30-day tourism exemption scheme effective from 15 September 2026. Check the conditions for your travel date and purpose. Do not plan a new trip on the old assumption that the 60-day scheme is still awaiting a change. For retirement, remote work, family, study or employment, decide which activity you intend to carry out and how long you expect to stay. A short tourist visit and a longer move require different planning. A visa's validity and the period of stay granted on entry are also different things to check. ## Use Ankara's current e-Visa instructions The Thai Embassy in Ankara directs applicants to the official Thai e-Visa system. Its application guidance was updated in September 2026 and explains that passports and supporting documents are no longer submitted in person for an e-Visa application. Follow its current eligibility and application-location instructions before submitting. If you hold a Turkish passport but live in another country, confirm the Thai mission responsible for your current location. Check your name, passport number and residence evidence carefully. Do not choose a mission solely because it matches your nationality, and do not rely on an assumed appointment or processing time. ## Obtain the correct Turkish criminal-record document Where a particular visa checklist asks for criminal-record evidence, Turkey's Ministry of Justice provides the Adli Sicil Kaydı enquiry through the official e-Devlet portal. Access requires an accepted identity-verification method. Use the official service rather than an unofficial site asking for your credentials. Ask the receiving Thai authority what document, language, issue date and certification it requires. The ability to obtain an electronic record does not mean that the record is suitable for every application without further checks. Check current service conditions before requesting the certificate, and allow separately for any required translation or certification. ## Compare longer-stay routes on their own requirements For retirement, check the rules for your intended application stage. An overseas visa application and a later extension in Thailand should not be given the same generic bank-holding or insurance checklist. The DTV has defined purposes, including eligible overseas remote work and listed activities. Describe the work or activity accurately and use the responsible mission's current requirements. Taking a job with a Thai employer is a separate question and should not be assumed to fit a remote-work application. BOI's LTR programme has distinct qualification categories. Check the current criteria for the relevant category rather than assuming that any pension, investment or overseas job qualifies. Keep financial statements in their original form and confirm how currency conversions should be presented. ## Arrange pensions, healthcare and tax separately If you receive an SGK pension or depend on Turkish healthcare arrangements, ask the relevant institution what applies to your own move. A visa does not arrange overseas pension payments, establish insurance cover or decide the tax treatment of remittances. Allow time to confirm the accepted documents and any translation or certification before making financial commitments. Avoid using a historic lira-to-dollar conversion as if it were a visa requirement, and confirm transfer procedures directly with your financial institution.
