Polish passport holders
Plan Your Thailand Visa with a Polish Passport
Your purpose of travel and country of residence determine which Thai mission and document checklist to use. Start with your plans, then check the relevant route and Polish supporting documents before applying.
Applying from Poland or another country
The Thai mission responsible for an application is not determined by passport alone. The Royal Thai Embassy in Warsaw describes DTV applications for current residents of Poland or Ukraine and asks for residence evidence. If you live elsewhere, confirm the responsible mission before applying.
Polish criminal-record documents
Where a selected route requires a criminal-record certificate, consult Poland’s National Criminal Register, known as KRK. Its official guidance describes electronic, in-person and postal application methods and published fees. Do not assume that every visa needs the same certificate or that an electronic request guarantees same-day delivery.
Ask the responsible Thai mission which document, age, language and certification it accepts before ordering a certificate. An electronic original and a printout may need different handling.
Remote work and other DTV purposes
The DTV has defined purposes, including eligible overseas remote work, listed Thai soft-power activities and eligible family relationships. Select the appropriate purpose and review the mission’s evidence requirements. It should not be treated as permission to take employment with a Thai employer.
Retirement and LTR planning
An overseas retirement visa application and a later extension in Thailand are separate processes. The applicable financial evidence, document timing and insurance depend on the route and application stage. Do not reuse a generic bank-holding rule for every case.
BOI’s LTR programme has distinct qualification categories. Being a Polish pensioner or remote worker does not alone establish eligibility. Review the relevant category and supporting requirements before making plans around it.
Keep the move and the visa in perspective
Current Thai embassy guidance lists ordinary Polish passport holders under the revised tourism exemption for stays of up to 30 days from 15 September 2026. The former 60-day scheme has ended. Entry conditions still apply, and any extension is the authority’s decision. This is not a substitute for an appropriate long-stay or employment permission. Pension administration, healthcare coverage and tax treatment also need their own review; a visa does not settle those questions.

Questions from Polish Passport Holders
Where do I obtain a Polish criminal-record certificate?
Use the National Criminal Register’s official guidance for electronic, in-person or postal applications. Its ordinary application methods have published fees. Confirm the required format, language and certification with the responsible Thai mission first; do not rely on a promise of a free or instant certificate.
Can a Polish passport holder apply for a DTV?
Polish passport holders can be assessed against the relevant DTV purpose and the responsible mission’s requirements. Warsaw lists workcation, specified Thai soft-power activities and eligible family applicants. Passport nationality alone does not establish eligibility.
Does every retirement case use the same bank-holding period?
No. An overseas O-A application and an extension in Thailand are different stages. Check the current financial-evidence rules for the particular route, responsible authority and application date rather than applying a universal three-month rule.
How long can I visit Thailand without a visa?
Current Thai embassy guidance lists ordinary Polish passport holders for tourism stays of up to 30 days under the revised scheme effective 15 September 2026. Entry conditions apply and any extension remains discretionary. Use the relevant visa for longer plans or other purposes.
I am Polish but live in another country. Where do I apply?
Confirm the mission responsible for your current residence. Warsaw’s DTV guidance refers to applicants residing in Poland or Ukraine and asks for residence evidence. Polish citizenship does not by itself make Warsaw the right application location for every person living abroad.
What should I check with ZUS before moving?
Ask ZUS to confirm the arrangements and documents for your individual pension. Polish consular guidance explains how to arrange certification of a signature on a ZUS life-certificate form. Follow the instructions you receive rather than assuming that a Thai visa settles pension administration.
What health insurance will I need?
Insurance conditions depend on your selected visa route and the responsible mission’s current checklist. Confirm the accepted coverage and certificate for that application. Do not reuse old O-A coverage figures or assume that one rule applies to every DTV and retirement case.
Can I replace DTV financial evidence with a statement of income?
Use the responsible mission’s actual checklist. Do not assume that an income statement automatically replaces the required financial evidence, or that retirement-visa evidence rules apply to a DTV. Ask which bank, sponsorship or other evidence is accepted for your case.
Does a Thai visa determine my tax position?
Visa status and tax treatment are separate matters. Your residence, income, remittances and any relevant treaty need an individual review against current rules. Consult a qualified tax adviser before relying on a particular treatment of Polish or other overseas income.
How do I submit an application through Warsaw?
Warsaw directs applicants to the official Thai e-Visa system and states that in-person visa applications are not accepted. Confirm its current jurisdiction and instructions before paying an application fee or submitting documents.
Should Polish documents be translated or legalised?
Ask the responsible Thai mission which documents need translation, certification or legalisation for the chosen application. The required format and process depend on the document and intended use. Do not assume that the same treatment applies to every Polish record.
