Thailand Marriage Visa (Non-Immigrant O)
The Non-Immigrant Visa Category O on the basis of marriage allows foreigners married to Thai nationals to live in Thailand on an annual-extension basis. It is one of Thailand''s most established long-stay pathways, with a lower financial requirement than the retirement visa and a straightforward annual renewal cycle. Visa Centre assists with the full application and annual extension process.

WHO THIS IS FOR
Any foreign national who is legally married to a Thai citizen and wishes to live in Thailand long-term. There is no age requirement — spouses of any age qualify if the marriage is legally valid in Thailand.
KEY REQUIREMENTS
Valid marriage to a Thai national: your marriage must be legally recognised in Thailand. Thai marriages registered at the amphur (district office) are automatically valid. Overseas marriages require an apostille and certified Thai translation.
Financial: 400,000 THB in a Thai bank account (in your name, not a joint account), maintained for 3 months before each annual extension. Alternatively: combined household income of 40,000 THB/month. The bank balance must be in a Thai bank account — overseas balances are not accepted for the in-country annual extension.
Your Thai spouse: must be a Thai citizen with a current national ID card and Tabien Baan (household registration). Your spouse will need to provide copies of both documents for your extension applications, and is strongly encouraged to attend the first extension appointment with you.
WHAT DOCUMENTS ARE NEEDED
For the initial overseas visa application (at the Thai consulate in your country):
• Passport
• Marriage certificate (Thai amphur certificate, or home-country certificate with apostille + certified Thai translation)
• Thai spouse's national ID card copy
• Thai spouse's Tabien Baan copy
• Evidence of cohabitation and relationship
• Overseas bank statement showing financial means
For annual in-country extensions:
• Above documents (updated versions)
• Thai bank passbook and bank letter showing 400,000 THB balance
• TM30 on file for current address
• Photographs of you and your spouse together
• 1,900 THB extension fee
OVERSEAS MARRIAGES — APOSTILLE REQUIREMENT
If you married outside Thailand (in Australia, the UK, USA, etc.), your home-country marriage certificate must be legalised with an apostille before it is accepted by Thai Immigration. For Australians: the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) issues apostilles — allow 2–4 weeks. Visa Centre can advise on the process and required format for the certified Thai translation.
