Thailand Digital Nomad Visa (DTV)
The Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) is Thailand''s purpose-built visa for remote workers, freelancers, and digital entrepreneurs who earn income from outside Thailand. Launched in mid-2024, it replaces the patchwork of tourist visa runs that remote workers previously depended on, and offers a 5-year multiple-entry structure with 180-day stays. Visa Centre assists with the full DTV application process.

WHO THIS IS FOR
The DTV is for foreign nationals who:
• Work remotely for an employer or clients based outside Thailand — not a Thai company
• Freelance or run an online business with income sourced from overseas
• Are self-employed professionals, consultants, or creatives earning from foreign clients
• Are digital entrepreneurs (e-commerce, content creation, SaaS, etc.) whose revenue comes from overseas
The DTV is not for people who work for Thai employers or earn Thai-sourced income — that requires a Non-B visa and work permit.
KEY REQUIREMENTS
Age: 20 years or older.
Financial: 500,000 THB (approximately USD 14,000 / AUD 21,000 as of June 2025) demonstrated in your bank account. Bank statements covering 3 months are the standard evidence. Overseas bank statements in your home currency are accepted.
Income proof: evidence of remote employment, freelance contracts, or business registration showing your income comes from outside Thailand. Employment letters, service agreements, or business registration documents.
Health insurance: required. A policy covering Thailand is required at time of application.
No criminal record.
VISA STRUCTURE
Initial visa: applied for at a Thai consulate in your home country (or online for some nationalities — check current availability). Grants a 5-year multiple-entry visa stamp.
Stay per entry: 180 days maximum per entry.
In-country extension: the 180-day stay can be extended once in-country at Immigration for a further 180 days — giving up to 360 days continuous stay before you need to exit and re-enter.
No annual fee: unlike the retirement visa, there is no annual extension fee — each 5-year DTV is a one-time issuance fee.
WHAT THE DTV DOES NOT PERMIT
• Working for a Thai company or Thai clients
• Earning Thai-sourced income
• Employing Thai staff (a separate work permit and business registration is required for that)
